CHAMPIONS OF THE SEAS

Hello Friends of the Seas! Welcome to My Ocean Friendly Blog. I made this blog in support of the Creatures of the Seas and their Human Champions, Fighting for their Cause.

I have posted some of my favorite Champions here, and on some I have included a brief Notation of their Purpose at the bottom of this first page. You Must "Click" on the Older Posts, to pull up older posts. You will find that on the bottom of each page, and to the right of each page. I have also Included many Links to other blog and websites for you to expore. They are on the right column of the pages.

If you have a blog that is of focus on Healing of the Oceans and their Inhabitants, please let me know.

Although all Ocean Inhabitants are important, a special focus here is on the order Cetaceans (ceta is greek and latin for whale) or Marine Mammals of which the family Delphindae (meaning Dolphins) belongs. Like all mammals, they must breathe air. They also give live birth, and nurse their newborns with milk. Whales, Dolphins and porpoises belong to this group. That means Whales are actually large dolphins. Whales are the largest and porpoises are the smallest of the Cetaceans. Dolphins are not fish as some may think, and they are considered second to human beings in their intelligence and I believe they have an advanced intelligence far beyond some humans. The Japanese Dolphin Hunters have been, and still are relentlessly driving dolphins in the Cove of Taiji to Their Deaths and Capture, and other people are contributing to their plight by supporting the entertainment arenas around the world and eating their meat.

The Dolphins of Taiji are Close to My Heart at this Time, so I wrote a Poem for them "Shout Out For the Dolphins of Taiji" and to Challenge the World to Helping them Overcome Their Plight.

I also Support other Sea Life and their Champions, and I am Open to Suggestions for improvement or new information, so please offer any constructive comments you may have in the comment sections. Please Note the Champions of the Seas Links on the Right and Support them if Your Heart Desires. Alone we create a Ripple in the Ocean, and Together we Create a Wave... Let Our Voices Be Heard! The Wild Dolphin Project ` Research of Dolphin Intelligence

We Know that Dolphins are Smart.  The Wild Dolphin Project is Researching Dolphin Generations, in the Wild, Non-Invasively, to Determine Just How Smart they Are!

"The Wild Dolphin Project - The Wild Dolphin Project is a non-profit scientific research organization that studies and reports on a specific pod of free-ranging Atlantic spotted dolphins (Stenella frontalis). Since 1985, Denise Herzing has been studying dolphin communication in the wild. Objectives of this long-term, non-invasive field research on wild dolphins are to gather information on the natural history of these dolphins, including dolphin behaviors, social structure, dolphin communication, and habitat; and to report what we have learned to the scientific community and the general public."

"Swimming with the Tamed Dolphins"

Is it For Our Own Enjoyment
That We Require the Dolphins and Whales to Interact in Play
In the Artificially Constructed Sea of their Captive Homes?
If We Love them and Perceive their Heartaches,
Then We Must Open their Watery Captive Gates to Free Them."

A Letter From the Embassy of Japan Addressed by A Family Standing Up for What They Believe In

Chastity, from the "A Family Standing Up For What They Believe In",  Posts and Responds to a Standard Letter Written by the Embassy of Japan Regarding Dolphin and Whale Hunting and Sushi Consumption.  You May  Read What She Has to Say by Clicking on this Link:

I would like to Add My Own Comment Here in Response to the Letter from the Japanese Embassy Saying, that just because it has been, or is Culture or Tradition, Does Not Mean it is Right.  Headhunters killed their Victims and Shrunk their Heads, a Cultural Tradition that has thankfully been abandoned and viewed as Outdated and Unacceptable in this Day and Age.

Spreading the Word

Short Film Contest for Expression of Humans Views on Whaling and Whales via "Whale Like Me"

...  "We have not even announced it officially yet, but we've launched a short film contest... to put together the expression of how humans view whaling and whales in 2011 - there are signs that attempts to provide for rights for cetaceans, via policy, are gaining momentum.  We may well be in that important moment, similar to the inception of real momentum for the abolition of slavery, where voices are rising to describe cetaceans as candidates for official inclusion within our circle of kinship.  We want our short film contest to recognize, and at the same time act as a catalyst in any capacity it can, for this moment."

If you would like to participate, or help us spread the word: check it out here:
